Delivering individual Yoga for Pain consults

Private consults can help people with persistent pain develop a yoga practice that supports their capacity, time commitments and objectives. The personalised attention offered can mean better progress and more satisfaction for both student and teacher.

This module provides tips, tools and skills for running effective one-to-ones, with a particular focus on clients with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue or ongoing pain interested in Yoga for Pain consults that help them prepare for a yoga pathway.

PART 1 Delivering skilful one-to-ones

A two-hour workshop available online or in person to examine the most important Yoga for Pain elements to convey in a students first session. You’ll also be provided with tools and tips for encouraging regular attendance and tracking student progress:


  • Yoga for Pain Essential Meditation (should be the key aim of your client’s first session)
  • How to ask open questions that help you understand the client’s needs
  • How to encourage students to commit to regular practice
  • Effective followups
  • Keeping records
  • Demonstrating value
  • Pricing your time
  • Examples of helping clients progress personal goals alongside their yoga practice

Tools covered:

  1. Extensive iagnostic form with a focus on qualitative questions (“Tell me about..” rather than “tick the conditions you have”)
  2. Booking templates for confirming appointments through an online calendar
  3. Conditions of booking that can minimise last minute cancellations

There will also be time to ask questions about your areas of interest and worry or concern.
Open to all yoga teachers and health practitioners who have completed Yoga for Pain foundations level training.
